Network of Operations Centers (NOC)

At Webolocity, we collocate our servers, the following
description is from that data center information package. We are not
attempting to imply that we own or have ownership in this data center,
this page is simply for informational purposes for our customers so you
can feel comfortable with the partners we choose and the location of
your site and/or server.
Fortress ITX Data Center (New Jersey)
The
FortressITX Data Center resides in Clifton, NJ, just 14 miles from New
York City. This new facility boasts enormous growth potential allowing
us capabilities of up to 55,000 sq ft of pure datacenter floor space,
and ease of access to backbone providers. Currently, the facility
incorporates over 7,500 sq ft of completed raised floor data center
space, along with 4,500 sq ft of corporate office space which includes a
front reception area, conference rooms, and ample space for our
employees. The new datacenter has been carefully planned from inception
to overcompensate for such factors as cooling, generators, UPS's, backup
generators, fire suppression,
and much, much more. Our new facility has been set in place with 7,500
sq ft of raised flooring,
4 (ten) 20 ton AC units and double pre-action
fire suppression system. FortressITX currently uses MCI and Above.net as
its backbone providers, and is adding Level3 and Global Crossing in the
near future. FortressITX offers fast, reliable connectivity to the
internet via an MCI OC48 Full Sonnet Ring with the addition of dual
OC192's in the upcoming future.
Softlayer (Texas)
SoftLayer is the first true on-demand hosting solution with public and
private networks to ensure complete control over the outsourced
environment. Comprised of two separate and distinct redundant network
architectures, the SoftLayer network-within-the-network design delivers
enterprise level hosting services while adding complete management and
flexibility to the outsourced environment.
Cisco
Routers & Switches - 6500, 3750, 2900 Series routers and switches
with gigabit speeds available from the individual server to the
Internet.
Redundant GigE Backbone - Multi-router gigabit connections to the
Internap, SAVVIS, VERIO/NTT, Abovenet, and Global Crossing core backbone
exchanges located in the INFOMART in Dallas, Texas
Traffic Management & Analysis - Utilizing Peakflow from Arbor
Networks coupled with Netflow data from Cisco
routers and switches, network engineers continuously monitor the health,
reliability, and performance of the network. Historical analysis is
critical for demand
and capacity planning.
Network IDS, IPS & DDOS - Industry best solutions from Tipping
Point are utilized to guard against denial of service, malicious
traffic, viruses, malware, phishing, spyware and other types of Internet
threats via wire speed detection and remediation coupled with automatic
and
zero day response.
Private VLAN & Port Control - All servers reside on private VLANs
for security purposes. Additional servers or firewalls added after the
initial install can be placed on existing VLANs
or new VLANs without service interruptions or IP changes. Port control
is also available to change port speeds from 10 / 100 / 1000Mbps to
further manage security and bandwidth usage.
Bandwidth
Graphs & Alerts - Detailed bandwidth graphs with historical data and
projected monthly usage are available for all public server ports.
Custom bandwidth alerts
notify of bandwidth usage, spikes, or overages
The SoftLayer private routed network is comprised of Cisco 6500, 3500
and 2900 series switches and routers.
The
functional areas of the Private Network are listed below
Backend Network - 10 / 100 / 1000Mbps server-to-server
connections with unlimited
traffic between servers.
• Private VLANs are
used for security with port speed control and bandwidth
graphs
for traffic management.
• Servers can be
added to private VLANs at the time of purchase or added in the
future without
service interruption.
Management Network - True out-of-band management of your IT
environment via a separate and distinct Internet connection through an
SSL VPN gateway.
• SoftLayer
maintains a separate gigabit network connection through Cogent
Communications for
SSL VPN connectivity.
• Once connected,
SoftLayer's systems drop you into your private backend VLAN
via radius
authentication for secure control and management of your servers
Service
Network - 10 / 100 / 1000Mbps connections from the server to the
service
network allows secure, fast, and reliable connections to internal
services
Current services available on the service network include:
• DNS
Resolvers
• FTP
Backup Storage
• IPMI
Metrics and Control
• Secure
LockBox Storage
|
• Network
Attached Storage
• Graphing
and Monitoring Servers
• Provisioning
& OS Reload Servers
• Microsoft
& Red Hat Update Servers |
Virtual
datacenter
SoftLayer is focused on delivering virtual datacenter services to our
customers via remote management tools incorporated into the customer
management portal and available over the SSL VPN gateway to the private
service network. SoftLayer engineers act as virtual onsite technicians
to facilitate enterprise quality hosting services. Through the use of
IPMI 2.0 server technologies, remote management software, out-of-band
management, automated OS reloads, and other proprietary SoftLayer
methodologies; SoftLayer brings the datacenter and hosting environments
to the virtual realm - giving customers complete control over the
outsourced environment.
GiGeNet (Chicago)
Gigenet operates our own 17,000 sq. ft. private data facility. Instead
of leasing space from a third-party wholesaler, they have built and
maintain our own IDC. Doing so provides us with flexibility to expand,
strict cost controls, higher security standards, and overall better
facility management
Security: Multi-layer security control
procedures, staffed 24/7, proximity card readers, and IP
video monitoring ensure that your hardware is never
tampered with. Public access is not available unless
personally escorted by Gigenet staff or authorized
ISP's.
Network: Multi-homed redundant fiber
connections and peering with Tier-1 providers ensure
you're always connected and that your data takes the
quickest, most efficient routes for optimal transfer
speeds. Maintenance and support contracts with all of
our vendors, along with third party consultants, ensure
constant uptime and availability
Power:
Uninterruptible power solutions that are
flexible and upgradeable provide
constant power to your hardware. Our
Mitsubishi UPS battery system takes over
instantly while our diesel generator
starts up.
Cooling:
Leibert HVAC redundant architecture with
overhead air distribution makes sure
that your equipment is always operating
at optimum temperatures.
Fire
Suppression: VESDA smoke
detection, double-action dry pipe fire
suppression modules prevent emergencies
before they start
Gigenet's network architecture is comprised of two
fully redundant, completely separate networks. By
separating customers' private networks from the
internet, an added level of security, flexibility, and
control is realized. Gigenet has invested in the best
equipment available - Juniper M20 routers at the edge,
Cisco 6500 series switches
for distribution and aggregation, along with Cisco 3500
and 2900 series switches at the customer layer. By
utilizing the most advanced routing and switching
technologies, reliability and scalability are both
maximized.
Gigenet has bandwidth providers Level 3, AboveNet, Cogent, Btnaccess and
Savvis

Network
- GNAX believes in a few large pipes of quality providers to handle spikes
in traffic and the occasional DoS attack as well as unknown traffic
patterns in the case of a primary link failure. This is why their network
minimum Internet backbone connection is 1 gig pipes. They currently have 6
backbone providers and are publicly peered with 12 providers including earthlink.
The current network consists of Gigabit links to Abovenet,
XO, PCC-BTN, SAVVIS, Telia, Level 3 and the Atlanta Internet Exchange
public peering point.
GNAX's datacenter is located in one of the 2 main Telco Hotel vaults in
Atlanta - with access to all the major fiber and IP backbones and the
highest quality of power and security in the city.
